今回のBBC Meetup では、ワォレットに関心を払い、検討していきたいと考えております。

今年、多くのハッキングが相次いでいます。1月26日に、「コインチェック」は580億円相当の「NEM」がハッキング被害に遭ったと報告しました。また、韓国の大手仮想通貨取引所であるビッサム(Bithumb)は6月下旬にハッキングの被害を受け、33億円相当の仮想通貨が流出しました。さらに、9月20日に仮想通貨67億円分が流出したとZaifが発表しました。

多くの投資家は被害を防ぐため、仮想通貨をそのまま仮想通貨取引所に保管するより、ウォレットも活用しています。STATISTAによりますと、2018年の第2四半期まで、世界中のユーザー数は25,764,015に達したことが分かりました。また、CryptoCompareによりますと、現時点までに、181個ウォレットプロバイダがあります。これらのウォレットは使用上の便利性、安全性、特別機能などを評価され、点数をつけられている。

しかし、このような変化はいくつかの問題が残されています。例えば、取引所を経由せず、直接に仮想通貨売買を実現させるウォレットが開発された結果として、仲介役を果たす取引所が機能上のメリットが失われることにより、ウォレットと仮想通貨取引所の分界線はどこにあるのかという問題に繋がります。

以上を踏まえ、現在ウォレットはどんな種類や機能があるのか、ウォレットと仮想通貨取引所の関係はどのようなものなのか、ウォレットの将来はどのようになるのかといった問題をめぐり、検討していきます。

ブロックチェーンビジネス研究会運営マネージャー – Kifer Yang

Kifer Yangはワシントン大学で環境科学と環境資源管理の学士学位を取得。

卒業後、環境コンサルティング企業でコンサルタントを務め、台湾の行政院環境保護署に政策上のアドバイスを提供していた。また、貿易会社であるMarubeni Taiwanとアパレル会社のUnder Armourでの勤務歴を有する。現在、ブロックチェーンビジネスコミュニティのマネージャーを担当し、毎月のミートアップの実施や広告宣伝及びBBCメデイアの運営を行う。

ブロックチェーンビジネス研究会（Blockchain Business Community、略称：BBC）は、ブロックチェーンが産業、企業、個人に及ぼすインパクトについて強い関心を持ち、一緒に議論してくださる仲間が集まり情報交換をしていくコミュニティです。

Earlier this year, 3+ exchanges have been hacked and an enormous amount of cryptocurrencies were stolen. For example, 58B JPY in NEM were hacked from Coincheck(Japan) in January, 3.3B JPY in multi-cryptocurrencies were stolen from Bithumb(Korea) in June, and 6.7B JPY were hacked from Zaif(Japan) as well in September.

In order to prevent assets from being hacked, instead of keeping their asset on the exchanges, many investors choose to use crypto-wallets to store their assets to divert the risk. According to Statista, in 2018 Q2, there are about 25,764,015 crypto-wallets users. Moreover, on CryptoCompare, there are about 181 wallet providers worldwide currently that have been reviewed and rated by users based on the wallet’s convenience, safety, and features.

However, with wallets improving and adding new features, some new problems have also come with it. For instance, transactions no longer need to be done through exchanges due to some wallets now added the features to allow direct trading/exchange from inside the wallet. In other words, an exchange that acts as the intermediary loses its functional merit, which leads to the question of where is the boundary line between the wallets and the virtual currency exchange?

Based on the above question, BBC will examine the wallet types & features, the relationship between wallets & exchanges, and share the trends of crypto-wallets at BBC#14 Meetup.

Blockchain Business Community Operation Manager – Kifer Yang

Kifer Yang graduated from University of Washington with a BA in Environmental Studies and Resource Management.

After graduation, Kifer worked in environmental consulting firms and propose policy to Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) Taiwan. Kifer also has work experiences at Japanese trading firm Marubeni Taiwan and apparel company Under Armour. Currently, Kifer is managing BBC to arrange monthly meetups, promotion, and operating BBC media.
